As I’m settling into this new sharing format (this Substack you’re reading), I’m giving myself permission to be messy about it. If you don’t know, my former working life was as a marketing creative, doing most of everything you might think of like design, branding, social, copywriting, all of it. I’ve taken dips in and out, working in a creative capacity for several yoga studios & teachers, an art school, nonprofits and other private clients as an independent contractor. Right now, I’ve focused on yoga teaching and sharing what I know with students and other teachers.
The marketer in me loves structure and form and a consistent brand voice across the board. It’s the unified look and feel of a perfectly executed project for me. The creative in me love newness… colors, typefaces, images, media. I want to follow the desire to try it this way and that. And so, I, right here, give myself the right (as though anyone is taking this away from me) to be consistent, to show up and also to change things up at any moment. I give myself permission for typos and mistakes, too.
As a yoga teacher, I do the same. I hope you’re up for consistency with a heavy dose of change, too

Stuff on my brain stem
Duude, I put this shit on Spotify and made it legit. Give me a follow?
Lifting weights makes so much difference in this hypermobile, sometimes achy body. I kinda hate it and love it.
Asymmetrical backbending is the latest IRL class focus. Look for tips here (and in the studio!) on how to perform them with skill and share them with your students.
I love this article about NOFX’s career and what they chose
My popular Journey through the Arcana workshop series on yoga and tarot will be back IRL in the fall, but I am PUMPED to announce that I have an online version launching very soon! If you’re not local to Columbus, can’t commit to 5 weeks in studio, want more time with the content. THIS IS IT.
Jason Crandell was recently interviewed on this podcast, and I appreciate what he says about yoga having always been a deeply physical practice, maybe even less so today.
